From 2022, the EU introduced a framework to strengthen the commitment to equality and gender balance in research.
Having a binding plan for equality becomes a qualification requirement for the allocation of research funds. The Norwegian Research Council (NFR) has decided to introduce the same requirements as in EU. As from 2022, all applicants in the research organizations and the public sector are obliged to have an action plan for gender equality in order to receive funding from the Research Council of Norway.
