Development of educational material on buildings and outdoor areas in organic animal husbandry
In this project, NORSØK aims to use information from previous projects to develop and implement educational material for farmers, students, and others interested in organic farming.
Why do we need more educational material focusing on organic food production?
In light of the challenges and
decline in production within organic farming in Norway, this project aims to
develop and implement educational material to support and recruit organic
livestock producers. With a decrease in organic production and new regulations
affecting farmers' decisions to continue with organic farming, the need for
knowledge sharing and recruiting new producers is urgent.
Utilizing information developed in
previous projects
By utilizing results from previous
studies conducted by NORSØK and partners, the project will provide tools and
practical solutions to help farmers adapt to the new regulations. The project
can thus contribute to improving both animal welfare and farmer well-being. The
educational material will be tested on farmers and students at Skjetlein Upper
Secondary School before being evaluated and further adapted.
Collaborators and target
audience
Collaboration with the National Digital Learning Arena
(NDLA) and the Norwegian Agricultural Advisory Service (NLR) will ensure
quality and broad distribution of the material. A reference group will also
contribute to the evaluation and improvement of the lectures. The target
audience includes both established organic producers and students at the
country's upper secondary schools and agricultural colleges. We aim to make the
material available through various channels such as Agropub, NDLA, and NLR.
